As a requirement of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), commercial motor vehicle drivers are mandated to undergo a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.

Commercial drivers are safety-conscious workers because of the potential influence their work has on both their own safety and the safety of others. Federal laws governing DOT physicals must be followed by employers of commercial drivers.

WHAT'S INCLUDED ON A DOT PHYSICAL

Our certified nurse practitioner will assess the driver’s medical history as part of the DOT physical. Our NP will also evaluate the driver’s vital signs and conduct a comprehensive examination while assessing several aspects of their health, including:

The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners will receive a report from our NP detailing the outcome of the examination. A copy of the medical examiner’s certificate (MEC) or DOT medical card will be given to certified drivers.
